ESSENCE OF EMPTINESS

Enso is a prevalent symbol in the Japanese arts culture, which is universally identified as the circle of infinity. This traditional zen practice of repetitively creating ensos with ink was studied for years by monks to train the mind. The practice is about perfecting the calm and grace to realize the full potential and spiritual expression of the energy individual. The motion of the brush stroke is one of full, deliberate and focused attention. It is a reflection of the essence of the artist’s state of consciousness.

Essences of Emptiness is a limited edition book designed and produced for Alisa Barry, creator, chef and CEO of the award-winning specialty food business, Bella Cucina. The art and poetry were painted and written by Alisa, with influences taken from Japanese Culture. Throughout the book, blank pages were left encouraging readers to express their own artistic and spiritual exploration.
